The hard part was going through Grace's bucket and taking out 3/4 of the candy because she is allergic to it. Another hard part was waking up this morning with a pounding headache to find that the boys were already awake and had been eating candy for some time. And yet another part was finding that Grace had eaten a bite of a peanut butter cup. She came into the room and said, "That was icky in my mouth." Apparently she had taken a bite and then spit it out in the garbage. Maybe her little body knows that she shouldn't be eating it. The hives were minimal.
Todd took the day off of work so he could take the kids trick-or-treating, which makes me love him even more. He really loves doing these things and making fun memories with the kids. Thursday night we let them stay up late so they could carve pumpkins together, something we always do together.
Normally I find myself digging through the candy eating anything and everything chocolate. This year, I am not even tempted. I have, however, eaten quite a few packs of Smarties. I have always loved those!
I have been watching as many scary movies as I can this month, and I plan to continue. Just because Halloween is over doesn't mean I can't enjoy a good scare. I have been watching "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" in 20 minute increments during my lunch break this week (yes, while I am eating!). I had never seen that movie before, and I seriously expected to hate it and find it to be just a stupid slasher film. There have been a few parts that have really creeped me out though, more disturbing than anything else. And I love the whole '70s feel of the film, it somehow makes it scarier for me. I have not finished it yet, but I will. There was one scene that I saw yesterday that really gave me the willies and continues to haunt me. That's what good horror movies are all about.
