The Things They Say

The other day Grace approached me and said, "Mom, I wanna go dot com!" while pointing to the computer. I asked her what she was going to do there. She said, "Click on it! I put my hand on that thing and click on it."

So damn cute!

Then yesterday Drew asked if he could go to nick.com/kpp. I helped him get there and asked why he wanted to go there.

"The kids get to pick the president," he replied. He then said he was not going to vote for Barack Obama, he was voting for John McCain. Horrified, I asked him why, knowing that he really knows absolutely zilch about politics or any of the candidates. He pointed to a picture of Obama. "This guy is going to make us destroy America. Isn't that where we live?"

"What?!! Where did you hear that?"

"My brother!"

I called Garrett in immediately, who said a girl on the bus told him that. I made it very clear to my children that it was not true, and that nobody was going to make us destroy America. Where the hell did that girl hear that? Her parents? WTF?

The voting was already done on the Nickelodeon website, and Obama won. Anxiously waiting for next Tuesday, scared and excited all at the same time.

A weird thing happened...unexpectedly, I am left with only Grace in the house, and she is asleep on the couch. Off to celebrate by doing whatever the hell I want.
