Holiday Weekend

This morning Grace greeted me with her squeaky little, "Happy birthday, mommy!"

It doesn't get much better than that.

She asked Drew if he knew how old I was. He shrugged and answered, "Thirty something."

Good enough!

Drew is now telling Grace that she has to do things on her own today because it's my birthday. We'll see how that pans out. I am planning on drinking this coffee, doing a crossword puzzle, making guacamole salad for lunch, then some chewy chocolate chocolate chip cookies because they're freaking awesome and it's my birthday. I need to go get a few grocery items and some Mother's Day gifts, and it would be nice to do that all by myself. I am also going to write.

I have the best husband in the world. He is buying me what I have been wanting for a long time - a laptop. My very own laptop computer I don't have to share with the kids. I am planning on doing a LOT of writing this summer, both for the paper and for my book, and I do not want to be stuck indoors all the time. I am beyond excited for this! And then this morning he gave me a ceramic planter with strawberry plants, so I can grow my very own.

Tomorrow is Mother's Day, so I expect the same kind of respectful treatment from the family. Yes, it does rock to be me!

Well, sometimes.

My mommy just called. Gotta run!
