It's that wonderful time of year again. Despite the fact that it is unbelievably cold, even for Minnesota, I am thrilled that it is October. I am totally in the mood for anything to do with horror. I have moved a bunch of horror movies to the top of my Netflix queue, although the boys and I keep fighting for the top spot. All I want to do is come home from work, get into comfy clothes, relax on the couch and watch scary movies. And maybe cook supper...
Last night I watched Ginger Snaps, a movie about a teenage girl who becomes a werewolf after being attacked by one. One of the bloggers I follow listed it as a favorite of hers. I was expecting a campy low-budget horror movie that was not actually scary, but it was AWESOME. I have not had that much fun watching a movie in a long time. Grace made me rewind the part where we get to see Ginger's tail four times. The movie had its funny moments. It also had some truly scary parts. I love the characters. And the attack scene was out-of-this-world intense. There were no CGI special effects in this movie. But holy cow, it felt real.
Other films I am eagerly awaiting this month:
-Let's Scare Jessica to Death
-Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?
-Infection
-The Tenant
-Teeth
-Carnival of Souls
-Nosferatu
-The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)
And ones I have seen but can't wait to watch again:
-Psycho
-Let the Right One In
-The Nightmare Before Christmas
-It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
-Halloween
If anyone has any ideas for more movies I should watch, please leave a comment.
