The search for a yummy, chewy, gooey, chocolaty vegan brownie has become a Holy Grail of sorts for me. I can't even tell you how many recipes I have tried. Some of them really suck, but most of them are just okay. Nothing fabulous. Certainly nothing to blog about.
I found a recipe yesterday for black bean brownies. I had heard about them, but never gave it a try. So I gave it a shot. I processed black beans, bananas, cinnamon, vanilla, agave nectar, and quick oats and baked it. Then I went to a meeting. When I came home, Grace's face was covered in chocolate and she had one in her hand. I cut myself one and took a bite.
It was okay.
You really can't taste the black beans. It's chocolaty. It's a brownie. Grace loves them. She is sneaking another one right now as I type. They are actually pretty healthy. Just not the dense, fudgey, gooey goodness I was promised by the blogger who posted the recipe.
I continue my search. I will not give up.
