Sunday

Even though I had a long weekend, I didn't get nearly all of the things done I had planned on doing. I did get a couple of rooms picked up and vacuumed, but that was pretty much it. The dishes and laundry were piled up high because we were pretty much running around the whole time. Sunday was no exception, I took the kids to see my grandma who lives with my aunt and uncle LITERALLY in the middle of nowhere, MN. It took FOREVER to get there, there was nothing around us and I almost got lost trying to get out of there. I can find my way around Minneapolis, St. Paul and the surrounding area, but put me in the middle of the country with nothing around but fields and houses and cows, and the curse words start coming.

Anyway, after all that I had to get some shopping done, then Todd wanted me to get pizza on the way home. And since it's kind of pricey to get a veggie pizza (even without the cheese), he figured I could just make one for Grace and me when I got home. The last thing I felt like doing after a long day of driving and shopping with all three kids was making up a homemade pizza from scratch. But I did it. I didn't eat until about 9:30 that night, but it was worth it. I made a plain white crust from scratch and let it rise while Mikel and I started watching "The Orphanage," a movie that I had high hopes for being really scary. And this blog is about those two things, the pizza and the movie.

First, I wasn't in the mood to make the tofu basil ricotta I usually put on my pizza, so I started thinking about the half of an avocado in the fridge I needed to use up. Could I put that on my pizza? Why not? So I had pizza sauce, mushrooms (of course), onion, green pepper, cut up avocado and Follow Your Heart Mozzarella soy cheese shredded on top. Wow. My love affair with avocados really advanced to a higher level with this pizza. How could I have not tried this before? The creamy goodness just mixed perfectly with the soy cheese and all the rest, and it was amazing. I ate four pieces, a record for me that I later regretted. Too much food. But wow. Try it if you get a chance.

Along with the pizza came the movie...Mikel was drawing a picture most of the time, so I know she didn't catch much because the movie is in Spanish and we had to read subtitles. I kept waiting for it to get scary. It got creepy, that's for sure. But in the end, I was a little disappointed. It was a good movie, but it fell short of scaring the shit out of me.

But then...I had to drive Mikel home and it was pretty late. We started talking about the movie and a certain scene that actually showed the ghost children and we ended up being really freaked out. I was scared to look behind me, and I felt very uncomfortable. Intellectually, I knew that there was nobody hiding in my back seat, especially not a ghost child, but still... That's not completely unheard of, is it??

The drive home alone took two whole minutes. And then I was again safe at home. It felt great.
