Autumn

I used to hate fall, because it meant that winter and cold were coming. I used to hate even the colors and the trees changing because it meant death to me. Now I am not such a Debby Downer, and I can appreciate the cycle of seasons, and the beautiful things that each one has to bring. Some reasons I am looking forward to fall:

-New seasons of "House" and "The Office." Woo-hoo!
-Cooking squash, warm soups and chilies and other warm things
-Sweaters. With buttons.
-Halloween!!!
-The cooler air
-The beautiful colors
-Kids go back to school
-Back to work for me - this one is mixed. I love being off work and home with the kids, but it will be nice to be back with the students as well.
-Wearing my new clothes and shoes that I bought.
-Trying out new lunch box recipes for myself to bring to work.

I could rave on and on about autumn till the end of time. I'm already planning out which Halloween-style movies I'll be watching this coming fall. I've been in the mood for Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow lately, and I'd like to get a DVD copy of The Nightmare Before Christmas. It should be fun to watch the Scream trilogy for the third year in a row as well.

Photography, too -- last year I had such an infinite amount of fun with the fall foliage. I can't wait to do it again this year. There are certain spots that I visited too late last year that I'd like to get to this time around. I went on so many interesting and fun walks last year. Last year was probably the most fun I've had in autumn since I was a kid.

Sweaters are fun too! And curling up under a blanket with a book. And eating hot foods to keep warm. And I'm really looking forward to all the DVDs coming out for The Office, House, and Ugly Betty. We're also looking at getting cable soon, so maybe I can look forward to those shows on actual TV too. If I can stand to sit through commercials again -- I'm so not used to that anymore!
