Unexpected Morning

Over the last month or so I have been undergoing many different expensive and ultimately unnecessary tests at the Great Mayo Clinic. I missed some work days, and had to get up super early on a few different occasions. I discovered that when you arrive at the clinic at 6:30 a.m., you can park anywhere you want in the parking ramp, without having to creep slowly all the way up to the top and then back down again, desperately searching for a spot, watching the clock anxiously as your appointment time comes and goes. There was one day that I arrived for a blood test at 9 a.m. and happened to find a parking place on the street. Not only was that lucky, but there was already money put in the meter. I put another dime in for good measure, then began my walk to the building I needed to be at. For some reason I had put my camera in my bag that morning. Instead of walking to the busy street and down a couple of blocks, I decided to walk a little path between the buildings, and discovered a world I never knew existed.

Being a lovely spring morning, I saw many beautiful flowers and began taking pictures. Behind one building was a table among the path and the trees, and being partially hidden by the buildings was relatively peaceful. I was taking pictures of it when I almost stepped on a little chipmunk walking across my path. I gasped, but he did not run away. He stayed where he was, then darted back and forth among the foliage before finally disappearing. I walked across the street and found an even more secluded spot behind that building. I could hear the cars and people but they seemed far away as I walked on a path of round tiles through the grass, flowers and trees and saw another spot that would have been lovely for sipping coffee and reading or writing.

I was so happy to have discovered such peace and beauty in the middle of a busy city and a busy day, and among stressful times. And so happy that I decided to bring my camera with me. I was on quite a high for the rest of the day.

Oh, and one more thing for today before I get my work done: GO OBAMA! Woo-hoo!

And to add to your concluding comment: Hillary Clinton needs to get the hell out of the way and stop being a sore loser about it. She better not be VP candidate. After all her immaturity and bitter vitriol against Obama these past few months, the idea of her in office as VP under Obama just puts a very sour taste in my mouth.
