Happy Birthday Bob!

Today Bob Dylan is 67 years old...When I was a lot younger, a radio station in Minneapolis played 24 straight hours of Dylan on his 50th birthday, and John taped some of it for me. That cassette, which I still have, was one that I always listened to when I went to bed. For many years I couldn't even sleep without listening to it. I never wrote down the list of songs that were on it...I preferred not knowing, to have it be kind of mysterious and random, although I eventually had it memorized. The soothing sound of the DJ's voice between songs and the healing power of Dylan's voice and music always helped me sleep when it was a problem. I no longer listen to it, and I don't even have a cassette player anymore.

Thanks, Bob, for being you, for going strong after all these years, and for getting me through so much.

I couldn't decide which video to post as there are so many great songs. Should I do the young, acoustic Dylan? Something live, or a video? Something from modern Bob? Then I came upon this. Easily one of his most amazing songs. The video gave me the chills. I think it's the perfect choice as we fans celebrate a long, eventful, crazy, brilliant life.
