Last Lines

I have been thinking about the last lines of movies, and which ones are my favorites. Naturally, whenever I come up with an idea, several thousand people have already written about it online. Ah, well. These are the ones that I love. I didn't just take the movies I like and write their last lines. These ones stuck with me as perfect endings to the movie for whatever reason; comical, meaningful, nonsensical, thought-provoking, whatever. I'm sure there are tons more great ones out there.

In no particular order:

“One thing about Santa Carla I never could stomach. All the damn vampires.” Lost Boys

“I was cured all right.” -A Clockwork Orange

"You met me at a very strange time in my life." -Fight Club

"I am finished." -There Will be Blood

“Well, here we go.” -Punch Drunk Love

"I'm not even gonna swat that fly. I hope they are watching. They'll see. They'll see and they'll know and they'll say, 'Why, she wouldn't even harm a fly.’" - Psycho

"Mein Fuehrer, I can walk!" -Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (I know, technically the last line is "Wahooooooo!" but close enough)

“Jack, I swear.” -Brokeback Mountain

And this isn't just one line, but several, spoken by the awesome Morgan Freeman at the end of the awesome movie The Shawshank Redemption. That movie doesn't EVER get old. EVER. If there was an award for Happiest Movie Ending, it would totally win.

"I find I'm so excited, I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it's the excitement only a free man can feel, a free man at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend, and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope."

And because it rocks-

"I was only boning you to get to Mary!" - Magda's boyfriend, There's Something About Mary

I still just can't get over the "no more Pull-ups" ending line from 2012. Dumbasfuck.

And I LOVE There Will Be Blood's "I'm finished" line. Simply love it!
