Summer Vacation Begins!

We got out of school on Friday at 11 a.m. I went home, packed our bags, and the kids and I took off for John's house. We spent the weekend there. I did a lot of this:

And a significant amount of this:

It was relaxing. It was fun. It was an emotional roller coaster of sorts. There was an incident involving Drew that made me question whether or not he should see a developmental psychiatrist. There was some therapeutic crying. There was singing along to great songs on the radio. There was dancing while my dad played the blues. There was a lady who thought I was 25. (I told her I loved her.)

Now we are home. I love having this free time. I can write. I can watch movies. I can clean the house on my own time. I can make smoothies in the morning without worrying about waking anyone up. I can take my time and enjoy my coffee. I can start growing my own sprouts and my own strawberries and my own fresh herbs. I have time to make more raw foods and use my dehydrator more often. I can work on getting some exercise in so I look better in my new swimsuit. I can work on my novel...

I love this feeling of the beginning of vacation, knowing you have a whole summer ahead of you. I am going to have this feeling until August when it will hit me suddenly that we have to get ready for school again. It will fly by, but I'm going to try to hang onto it as long as I can.
