I saw someone else's blog post about things they had done over the past ten years, and naturally it got me thinking. I thought about how my life was in the year 2000. When the year started out, I was largely pregnant with my first child and on bed rest. And now here I am... so I am making my own list of a few things that stand out in my mind. I have really seriously grown in the past ten years in so many ways.
In the first decade of the new millenium, I:
-Gave birth the way nature intended three times
-Found out that being a mother completes me the way nothing else does
-Found an anti-depressant that not only works like magic, it allows me to feel the full spectrum of human emotions (and write!)
-Stepped out of my comfort zone and began writing for a local newspaper, something I had never attempted before
-Moved on to write for a larger paper
-Almost got divorced...but did NOT
-Joined Weight Watchers, lost 33 pounds, learned about eating healthier
-Went vegetarian for the third (and final) time
-Started blogging (who didn't?)
-Went vegan
-Said goodbye to two grandpas...and then one of my grandmas...and an aunt
-Started writing a novel that I am still working on
-Found some old friends (and new ones) through MySpace and Facebook
-Had a couple of short stories published
-Finally started paying attention to doing "what fuels me" in my life...living the way I want to, no matter how strange, bizarre, inconvenient, unconventional or scary.
-Got a job helping kids with special needs at the high school...one of the most rewarding jobs I have ever had
-Started my own food column in the newspaper I write for
-Learned a lot about mind and body health, using more natural products, alternative medicine and taking care of the earth.
What will the next decade hold in store for me? I am excited to find out.

Jade, you should feel proud of all you've done and accomplished. I know I am proud of you.
