Living

One of my students (my favorite one, shhh don't tell!) was wearing a shirt today that read, "Life is too short to listen to bad music."

Awesome t-shirt. That's why he is my favorite.

I told him today this can also apply to bad movies and bad books...and numerous other things in life.

It made me think of the book I am reading right now, The Time-Traveler's Wife.

The next time someone tells me of some book that I just HAVE to read, I am going to plug my ears, close my eyes and go "lalalalalalalala."

I don't even know where to begin. I don't think I will bother finishing it. I get angrier and hate the characters more with each turn of the page. Sometimes I read books and think to myself, "I should just give up writing. Who am I kidding? I could never be this good."

Other times I can't believe such a pile of crap could ever be published. I am very disappointed.

I have a large stack of books that need to be read, and I am not going to live forever. Time to move on.

Other Things Life is Too Short For:

Eating food that is simply OK
Drinking weak/bad coffee
Not playing/laughing with your kids every day
Spending a lot of time cleaning
Working at a job you hate
Staying in a bad relationship
Not telling people that you love them
Worrying about what might happen
Worrying about what others might think about you
Worrying about how others think you should live/eat/parent/behave/feel
Doing/saying things you don't really believe in
Not standing up for what you truly believe
Not saying what it was you really wanted to say
Sacrificing time with your spouse/partner for the kids, job, life, whatever
Not paying attention to the world around you every day

Anything else?
