Baby kitten

This afternoon I had to visit a farmer to take his picture for an article I am writing. I got a picture of him standing by his corn field. Grace was with me, and she immediately found this little kitten wandering around. Completely animal-crazy, like most little kids, she went nuts. She held him and loved him and carried him around. Once he jumped out of her arms and ran into the bean field. Grace went after him, but soon lost him. I turned around and she was standing in the field crying for her lost kitty. The farmer retrieved the kitten for her and we got her out of the field. I took my picture, and we headed back. Grace talked to the man, asked him the name of his dog, then asked if she could take the kitten home with her. He chuckled and said, "If it's okay with your mom."

She handed me the kitten and told me to take it to the van. And holy cow, I wanted to so badly! I mean, look how cute! And fluffy! I held him and kissed his head and rubbed his fur on my cheek, even though I'm allergic. It's worth it. Then I put him down and carried a kicking and screaming Grace back to the van. I broke her little heart.

I can't have a cat in the house. I would be absolutely miserable! And Marley would probably accidentally kill it while licking it or playing with it. It would never work. But I am still thinking about going back tomorrow and taking it home.
