I crave live music like it's a drug. I need a fix every now and then, whether it's an expensive concert in a large venue or an intimate show with a local band or watching John play the blues with his band. Last night Todd and I attended the Cheap Trick/Journey concert in Minneapolis. I am beyond tired right now after sleeping 3.5 hours and working all day, and I have an article to write, so these little tidbits are all you're gonna get.
-When Cheap Trick did "I Want You to Want Me," the crowd went fucking wild.
-Beer was $7 a bottle. We drank water. It was only $4 a bottle.
-I stood in a long line for the women's bathroom. Todd was in and out of the men's room in 30 seconds.
-When the lead singer for Journey said, "We're gonna do a few songs from our new album," everyone sat down.
-The people around us were Really. Really. Drunk.
-I have been to many concerts, and I think this was the first time I did not smell someone smoking pot.
-Which reminds me...I would give anything to see Pink Floyd perform again.
-A guy hanging on a microphone with his eyes closed makes me feel kinda funny inside.
-Knowing how happy Todd was to see Journey again made it worth losing sleep over. And it was a lot of fun.
Now- off to write about city budgets and tax levies. Woo-hoo!!
